"It was no less than a miracle!
My apprehension at getting LASIK eye surgery was certainly high but three months post surgery and I am still so thrilled and excited I tell all of my friends and family it was no less than a miracle! The doctor and staff at West Metro Ophthalmology and The Phillips Eye Institute were incredibly thorough and absolutely made me feel I was in good hands. When I describe the procedure itself to people the word I use is ³strange² rather than painful. There was nothing in the procedure that I considered at all painful . . just strange. The post-op appointments were fine and one day post surgery I was 20/20 in the right eye and 20/25 in the left. Given I started at 20/400 you can tell why I feel this is miraculous!
The story I tell most frequently to friends and family is my first with my doctor when he explained the surgery to me and the risks and outcomes. He was very honest with me in his discussion of the procedure and the outcome I could expect. I have had friends that also have had the procedure (some locally but most in Canada) and they do not feel as positive about the experience as I do. I absolutely believe this has to do with their expectations going in, the fact that they have to travel to Canada for follow-up (not convenient) and they did not feel as comfortable with their surgeon. Without a doubt, I would recommend West Metro to anyone that is considering this surgery and actually do recommend them at least once a week!"

"I have been nearsighted since grade school. I was frustrated with contact lenses, but unwilling to exclusively wear glasses.
Then I heard about LASIK Laser Vision Correction. I researched the procedure and talked to people who had been through it. After weighing the pros and cons, I was confident I my decision to have the procedure done.
I contacted West Metro Ophthalmology and scheduled an appointment to see if I was a candidate for LASIK. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, answering any lingering questions I had and helped alleviate my fears.
My LASIK procedure was a breeze. I was amazed at how quick the procedure was to perform. Before I knew it I was on my way back home. I took a little nap and woke up to clear vision.
Since LASIK surgery I¹ve been thankful for things many take for granted. I am now able to read the alarm clock should I wake up at night. I can go swimming and see more than a foot ahead of me and don¹t have to worry about losing a contact. I never have to hunt for my glasses. But most of all, no more hassling with contact lenses.

"I decided to have the LASIK surgery after I was told I could no longer wear soft contact lenses but needed to switch to gas permeable lenses. After trying the gas permeable, I relived the nightmare of having worn hard contacts initially for 14 years! My eyes absolutely could not tolerate them. I’m in the fitness profession, so full-time glasses were not an option for me.
This surgery is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I’ve been "blind as a bat" since I was 7 years old. I endured coke bottle glasses, scratched corneas and dry eyes for too many years. In my mind, this surgery is a "miracle." "I had been wearing contacts for nearly 30 years. I was tired of the solutions, tired, scratchy, red eyes, and the time it took to put contacts in and out everyday. It was also hard to be outside with them in dusty weather. My eyes couldn’t tolerate that at all. In the winter of 2000, after losing my contacts for the umteenth time, I decided to research Lasik surgery.
I knew of one person who raved about it but didn’t really know how successful it would be for me. I had two main criteria. One, to have the surgery performed at Phillips Eye Institute. I KNEW that there was no better place to trust with my eyes. The second was to find a physician who I could trust. I also wanted it done as soon as possible.
I was totally satisfied with my decision on a doctor. He took the time to calm all my apprehensions and was very honest about potential problems. I had all the literature I needed and enough information to proceed and he got me scheduled very quickly!
